Classes everyone can follow.

Live captions for students who need them, a summary of every lesson, and a waiting room so only your students are in the class.

Built with the classroom in mind

  • Live captions in Arabic and English help students follow, and give hearing-impaired students the same lesson as everyone else.
  • Waiting room on every class: the teacher admits students by name.
  • Lesson plan as the agenda, visible to students before the class starts.
  • A recap after each class with the key points, sent to every student we hold an address for.
  • Screen sharing for slides and exercises, on desktop and on phones.

Schools and universities

Subsidised plans for K-12 and higher education. Ask us about your institution.

Tutors

Free for sessions up to 2 hours. Schedule the week's lessons and share one link per student.

Who uses it

One room, four kinds of teaching.

Lectures

A hundred students, captions running, and a summary of the lecture in their inbox before they have left the library.

Seminars and tutorials

Small groups where everyone speaks. Speaker-attributed captions mean the recap says who argued what.

One-to-one tutoring

Forty minutes free is exactly one tutoring session. Share a link per student and keep the agenda as the lesson plan.

Staff and parent meetings

Department meetings and parent evenings, with a waiting room so each family is admitted at their time.

Student privacy

An education record is not ours to keep.

Schools carry obligations under FERPA in the United States, GDPR in Europe and Jordan's PDP Law here. These are the product decisions that make them easier to meet.

Obligation
What Codexal Meet does
Status
No recording of minors by defaultFERPA · school official
There is no server-side recording at all. A recorded class exists only if a participant presses record, and it is saved to that person's own device while the room shows a red indicator to everyone.
Implemented
Transcripts are time-limitedGDPR Art. 5(1)(e)
A class transcript is deleted after the retention period, 14 days by default, and an institution can shorten it. Captions are opt-in per student.
Implemented
Only your students in the classDirectory information
Every class can run with a waiting room, so the teacher admits each student by name and a shared link cannot become an open door.
Implemented
Data stays in the regionCross-border transfer
Class data is held on servers in the Middle East, and an institution can have a dedicated instance in a named region.
Implemented
Not used for advertisingFERPA · GDPR
No advertising network, no tracker and no profile built from a classroom. Student data is never sold, and never used to train models.
Implemented
A written agreementFERPA §99.31(a)(1) · GDPR Art. 28
Institutions sign a Data Processing Agreement that makes us a processor acting on the school's instructions. Ask for it before the term starts.

Accessibility

The student who cannot hear the lecture still has the lecture.

Captions are in every meeting on every plan, including the free one, because a school should not have to buy an upgrade to include a deaf student. The written recap is a second route to the same content, for anyone who missed the class or needs to read rather than listen.

Our full WCAG 2.1 AA conformance statement sets out what we meet and the two places we fall short.

  • Live captions in Arabic and English, attributed to the person speaking.
  • Keyboard operation for every control in the room.
  • Screen reader support tested with VoiceOver and NVDA.
  • A written recap so nobody depends on re-watching a video.
Questions

From teachers and IT departments.

How many students can join a class?
Up to 50 on the free plan, 100 on Individual, and as many as you need on Business. Free meetings run to 2 hours, which covers a double period; institutions usually take a Business plan for the admin controls and the unlimited recaps rather than for the length.
Do students need an account?
No. A student opens the link, types their name and waits to be admitted. Nothing to install, no account, no app store. It works in Safari on iPhone and iPad and in Chrome on Android, which is what most students actually have.
Can we stop students joining a class they were not invited to?
Yes. Turn on the waiting room and the teacher admits each student by name, so a link passed around outside the class does not get anybody in. Meeting identifiers are cryptographically random and cannot be guessed.
Is Codexal Meet FERPA compliant?
FERPA obligations sit with the school, and a vendor meets them by acting as a school official under a written agreement and handling records properly. We sign a Data Processing Agreement, do not record classes server-side, delete transcripts on a retention timer, never use student data for advertising or model training, and keep data in the region. The technical detail is on our data protection page.
Are classes recorded?
Not by us. There is no server-side recording. If a teacher or student presses record, the file is saved to that person's own device and everyone in the room sees a red recording indicator for as long as it runs.
Do you offer education pricing?
Yes, subsidised plans for K-12 schools and higher education. Write to info@codexal.co with the size of your institution and we will send a quote.
Can a lesson plan be shown to students in advance?
Yes. Schedule the class, write the lesson plan as the agenda, and every student sees it in the lobby before the class starts and again in the recap afterwards.
